Manual Lymphatic Drainage Applied to Face

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

What is M.L.D.?

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a gentle form of massage used to relieve inflammation related to lymphedema.

Typically, your lymphatic system collects your lymph fluid and returns it to your heart via a network of vessels and nodes. When something disrupts this process, lymph collects in your arms, legs, ankles or other parts of your body, making them swell.

An MLD-C (A therapist Certified in Manual Lymphatic Drainage), uses lymphatic drainage techniques to move lymph from your tissues to your lymph nodes, which eases the swelling.

The Vodder Technique, created in the 1930's, is the gold standard of Lymphatic Drainage and utilizes light, rhythmic circular, or spiral hand movements on the skin to move lymph fluid towards nodes without causing skin redness.
